Our APAC Cyber Security Advisor, Shamane Tan, was invited to give two keynotes at the Mimecast Breakfast Connect last month. Both Melbourne and Sydney saw a great turnout at each event where cybersecurity professionals came to learn about innovative and relevant cyber resilient practices.

Shamane shared Privasec Red Team’s success stories which showcased the importance of training up humans as our first line of defence. A special thanks to Mimecast team for organising such an informative event!

Privasec was proud to sponsor the OWASP AppSec event, Australia’s only conference dedicated to application security.

Our team had an incredible time at the event and were impressed with the calibre of speakers both local and international. We were honoured to be chosen to design the official t-shirt for the event. Some interesting topics included developing secure web and mobile applications, breaking into them and how to protect them from future compromise. More than 600 industry professionals and students took part in listening to over 20 acclaimed speakers.

Privasec is really excited to sponsor KiwiCon - one of the biggest technical computer security conferences in the Australia-Pacific region. More than 2,100 people and 30 speakers attended KiwiCon 2016 conference and the KiwiCon 2038AD (to be held on 16th and 17th November 2018) promises to be even better.

KiwiCon promises to be an insightful event that will bring together the commercial infosec industry, academics, students, and hobbyist hackers discussing the latest hacking techniques.

Privasec proudly partnered with Cyber Risk Meetup to bring together industry professionals for the ‘No Longer a Secret’ event in Sydney on 18th October.

The well-attended event provided an opportunity for networking and sharing ideas with industry peers. The line-up of knowledgeable speakers leveraged their experiences to provide practical insights into staying in sync with the dynamic risk environment.

Olga Ganopolskygla, General Counsel Privacy and Data at Macquarie Group Limited, spoke about the complexity of responding to data breaches when privacy legislation differs greatly across countries and jurisdictions. Managing Consultant at Privasec, Ignatius Swart, spoke about the impact of living in a world of data breaches and suggested frameworks for organisations to effectively adapt and respond. CIO at Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC), Andre Jenkins addressed the importance of creating an environment where organisations are transparent and the public is informed about emerging privacy issues.

Privasec Team had a great time at the 2018 AISA Conference in Melbourne. We were proud to have been asked to run a training track at conference. This event was by far the largest on the cyber security calendar and Privasec team helped distribute nearly 2,000 of our awesome T-shirts at the event.

We witnessed a full house when Privasec’s Information Security Consultant Ignatius Swart (PhD, CISSP, PCI QSA) ran a live workshop on how to craft phishing attacks and develop counter measures. Privasec’s Managing Director, Romain Rallu, also ran the ISO 27001 masterclass at the conference.
