Privasec's CTO talks about our team's War Stories
Privasec's Co-founder Karan Khosla delivered a talk on our team's war stories on keeping the hackers out, at the local (ISC)² Sydney chapter on 30th July. The evening had a good turnout of Security industry professionals and they also got to hear from Tony Vizza, (ISC)² APAC Director of Cyber Security Advocacy discussing how lessons learned in the aviation industry can be applied to cyber security. Special mention to Prashant Haldankar, the President for the (ISC)² Chapter for organising this
All in a week's work!
Here's a bird's eye view of the events that have happened last week!
Privasec was in:
#1 - ISACA Malaysia CIAG Conference 2019 at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur
#2 - Singapore and our CISO, Prashant Haldankar, delivered a great pitch at the Austrade, AustCyber and SGInnovate ASEAN cybersecurity program.
#3 - Our Executive Advisor, Shamane Tan, gave a very well-received CISO talk at the RSA Conference APJ at Marina Bay Sands and was also interviewed by a few media journalists on her latest book launch.
#4 - Cyber Risk Meetup in Singapore was a resounding success! CSA hosted us and our Country Head of SEA, Noordin educated the crowd on the threat of drones and our APAC Executive Advisor, Shamane let everyone in on some CISO insights.
"Hackcelerator" Privasec Talent Assistance Program
Imagine being a student in InfoSec, participating in industry events, winning competitions and having skills on the bleeding edge of security. Still, organisations have been inclined to hire based on industry experience. Our team experienced this at University and promised to try and break this mold when they were in a position to do so.
Now one of Australia's leading Red Teams, Privasec has selected six candidates from Universities across Australia to be mentored, sent to conferences, included in in-house training and even get in-the-field work experience. Most importantly, we have a lot to learn from them as well. Congratulations to the successful applicants of our Talent "Hackcelerator" program!!
Our DroneSec's CTO, Mike Monnik, delivered an incredibly well-received keynote: 'A Beginner's Introduction to Drone Security' in Brisbane over the last weekend. He gave an in-depth talk on the big picture of drone security exploring the attack vectors, forensics and counter-UAS tie-ins. Privasec is glad to support BSides initiatives in our local community and the team is already looking forward to the next one!
Huge congratulations to both Mike Monnik, Sajeeb Lohani and Fedora Johnson who won the first prize for the OSINT CTF for Missing Persons!
